CaFo: Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation
Eastern North Carolina may be the most heavily factory farmed place on the planet. There are over 6500 industrial animal farms in NC. We are second only to Iowa in pig production, raising about 9.5 million pigs per year. As such there is a lot of political will aimed at making life better for animal agricultural interests, and less will towards our beautiful state, our water, our air, and the health of our citizens.
