Lily Pond @ Carolina Beach State Park - April 2025

This Lily Pond outing was a big success! Thanks to all who helped us out, we were able to clean up over 2250 pounds of glass!

On Sat. April 12th, approximately 40 people  (Sierra Club and other environmental organizations) joined together to clean up the old trash site at Carolina Beach State Park near Lily Pond.  What remains at this site is predominantly glass.  This was once a dumping ground in the 50's before it became a state park, but thanks to Jesse Anderson and the other park rangers, we're doing quarterly clean ups and therefore protecting wildlife and native plants.

What do we get from this?   Join in this scavenger hunt type of clean up, by digging up many, many glass bottles, some in beautiful unbroken condition.  Enjoy the discovery, and camaraderie when working and digging with others.  Lots of fun and easy to meet others at the so to speak, ground level.   We'll be taking the summer off, so catch you at the next clean up in the fall.
